Personal audio processing notice

Your files. Your account.

You can upload recordings of meetings, interviews and lectures that you have permission to use. Only the uploading member can view and download transcripts; they are not shared with the public video cache or other members. Original audio playback and downloads are not provided.

We process the filename, audio, selected language, duration and job status for uploading, transcription, downloads and usage accounting. Check the necessary rights and consent when audio includes other people’s voices or personal information. Do not upload sensitive or confidential material.

Retention and deletion

After successful transcription, TubeType deletes the original audio from its server and keeps only the transcript for 72 hours. Views and downloads do not extend this period; you can delete it earlier in transcript history. Unstarted audio is deleted one hour after upload. Cancel or delete removes it immediately. This waiting limit does not apply once transcription has started. Failed jobs are cleared after 1 hour.

Account withdrawal immediately blocks file access and schedules deletion. Audio and transcript contents are excluded from long-term recovery backups. Usage accounting records follow the separate retention policy in the privacy notice.

External speech processing and international transfers

Storage and accounts are managed on AWS in South Korea. Speech recognition runs on Modal Labs, Inc. When you start transcription, the audio and necessary processing information, including your selected language, are sent to Modal over encrypted connections. Your email and login password are not sent as speech-recognition inputs.

Modal’s default routing and storage region is the United States. Computation may be assigned to available global regions, including the US, whenever you start transcription. A fixed country is not guaranteed.

TubeType’s Modal result cache is cleared after 72 hours. Modal’s own Function inputs and outputs may be retained for up to 7 days, and Starter logs for 1 day, under its policy. TubeType’s three-day retention does not promise deletion of every external copy within three days.

You can decline this processing by not starting file transcription. Send questions, processing-stop or deletion requests to support@tubetype.com. Material already sent to external services is also subject to their retention and deletion terms.

Transcription results and usage

After uploading, review the detected duration and estimated charge before starting transcription. Only successful transcription counts toward usage. Failed work releases its reservation. This is separate from a card-payment refund.

Timecoded transcripts and TXT, SRT, VTT and JSON exports are provided. Automatic recognition may contain errors; automatic speaker identification is not currently available. Supported input and integration methods may vary with the connected AI environment.
